A Beginner’s Thoughts – Crowd Conversion Review

Important Note: These comments are based on version 1.0 of Crowd Conversion that was released in 2009. The program has been enhanced for version 2.0, and I have not yet had a chance to work through the upgraded version.

So far I’ve been through the first couple of lessons from Crowd Conversion and my thoughts are favorable, with somemild criticism / areas for improvement. The first thing I really like is that there’s a LOT of step-by-step lessons. I am also impressed by the fact that they focus on ethical, real social marketing… nothing spammy or blackhat, everything is about being your authentic self and connecting with people in effective and efficient ways.

They do an excellent job of laying the groundwork of what to expect in the Crowd Conversion Program, as well as explain why it’s important to understand certain rules (like Facebook’s Terms of Service and general social media etiquette).

I haven’t watched all the videos yet, but I’m hoping that some of the later ones have live screencaptures that show me HOW to do what they talk about. The first video I watched so far is all PowerPoint slides that they talk through. It’s very informative and helpful, and another plus is that they give you a download of the slides in addition to the videos so you can read if you prefer not to wait for the voiceover.

I also really like the fact that some of the lessons have Action Guides. This is really helpful to have a quick glance of knowing where the best use of your time is, and what is going to be most effective. Robert Grant and Ian David Chapman both say that Crowd Conversion can be used in just 30 minutes a day (and that more than that means you’re probably not using your time efficiently) to achieve maximum results… and the Action Plan shows that. Unfortunately, I’ve found at least one lesson plan that doesn’t have an Action Plan.

Overall, I’m looking forward to going through Crowd Conversion in more detail – and applying what I learn. I’m definitely glad I have it, since these strategies are going to be fundamental to succeeding with Social Media (and in this case Facebook) in the weeks, months, and years to come.

(And yes, I’m fully aware that I’m writing this initial review without actually DOING anything… it’s just a critique of my aesthetic impressions so far of the Crowd Conversion program materials and structure)
